【摘要】:Thepurposeofthistestmethodistoprovidedataonliquiddrop-sizecharacteristicsforsprays,asindicatedbyopticalnonimaginglight-scatteringinstruments.Theresultsobtainedgenerallywillbestatisticalinnature.Thenumberofvariablesconcernedintheproductionofliquidspray,togetherwiththevarietyofoptical,electronic,andsamplingsystemsusedindifferentinstruments,maycontributetovariationsinthetestresults.Caremustbeexercised,therefore,whenattemptingtocomparedatafromsamplesobtainedbydifferentmeans.1.1Thepurposeofthistestmethodistoobtaindatawhichcharacterizethesizesofliquidparticlesordropssuchasareproducedbyaspraynozzleorsimilardeviceunderspecifiedconditionsusingaspecifiedliquid.Thedropswillgenerallybeinthesizerangefrom5-x03BC;mtotheorderof1000-x03BC;mdiameter;theywilloccurinsprayswhichmaybeassmallasafewcubiccentimetresoraslargeasseveralcubicmetres.Typicallythenumberdensityoftheparticlescanvarysignificantlyfromonepointtoanother.1.2Thistestmethodisintendedprimarilyforuseinstandardizingmeasurementsoftheperformanceofsprayproducingdevices.Itislimitedtothosetechniquesandinstrumentsthatoperatebypassingabeamoflightthroughthesprayandanalyzingthelightscatteredbythedropletstoderivesizeinformation.Suchtechniquesdonotproduceimagesofindividualdrops,andtherefore,areknownasx201C;optical(nonimaging)instruments.x201D;1.3Themeasurementsmade,whenreferredtotheentirespraybeingsampled,maybefluxsensitiveorspatial,asdefinedinPracticeE799,dependingonthetechniquesusedwithaparticularinstrument.1.4Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
